We live in a pill world. Western medicine has taught us that when something is “wrong” with us, there’s this magical way to fix it quickly, and sometimes pain-free.
But what happens when there isn’t?
Doctors have tried to create similar “fixes” for mental health issues for years, and even though they’ve been successful in managing some of the symptoms, these fixes have been wildly unsuccessful at actually treating the human mind.

Let’s take a moment to talk about the importance of self-care. We all neglect it sometimes, but if you are or a loved one is struggling with a mental health challenge, then chances are you neglect it too much. You attempt to meet the needs of people around you before meeting your own needs. Most times you do this without even realizing it, which is why habits can be so powerful. But even though you don’t realize it, it still affects you: those who aren’t able to adequately meet their own needs are often unable to cope with everyday stressors in a healthy way.
How great would it be to build the opposite habit — the habit of giving yourself everything you need and want in order to function properly; in order to feel happy, balanced and confident. When you’re “full”, you are more productive, more motivated, have healthier relationships and your mental health issues become less of a controlling power and more of a scary, annoying friend that you can learn to live with.

This is who I am now. But back then… I’ve been living with depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder all my life. As a child, I was hospitalized 3 times in a psychiatric hospital, I was expelled from 3 schools, and I attempted suicide at age 10. Even though I’m still struggling with the same challenges today, I’ve managed to live a fulfilling life and have an incredibly successful career.
